Foreign tourists may require a visa and must have a valid passport.

Airport Taxes
Normally these are included in your airticket costs but if not,
we will notify you. |
Currency
ZAR - South African Rand. Value thereof fluctuates,
so if current values are needed please enquire from us. Most international
credit cards are accepted and foreign currency as well as travellers
cheques can be exchanged at all commercial banks. Value Added
Tax (VAT) on goods purchased to be taken out of South Africa,
may be redeemed. Remember to retain those invoices.

| Health Requirements
These vary depending on the country of origin and any country visited
en route. Please consult your doctor or visit www.travelclinic.co.za
or contact us. Precautions must be taken if there
are plans to enter Malaria risk areas.
Drinking water is generally safe, however, in rural areas you are
advised to take bottled water. |
Clothing
Comfort is the order of the day. Informal for the most part with
occasionally requiring smart attire for some venues. In the game
reserves we suggest lightweight, of neutral tones. Remember a warm
jacket for game drives. Sun hats are recommended, as is sun protection
cream with a high factor. Remember your comfortable shoes and swimwear.

| Driving
Our major links and city roads are generally regarded as impressive,
however, isolated and rural areas tend to be rough. Most major road
links are supported by Tolls and have refreshment and gasoline stations
at regular intervals. Motorists drive on the left-hand side of the
road.
Speed limits on motorways and highways are generally 120kmh (75mph)
and in towns and cities the limit is 60kph (35mph). Please ensure
you are in possession of a valid driver's licence. |
Language
We have 11 official languages, the most commonly used are English,
Afrikaans, Zulu, Xhosa and Sotho.
Communications
In most parts of the country, international standards are upheld.
Tipping
It is accepted that a 10% tip is given for meals. |
| Banking Hours
Most banks are open from 9am to 3.30pm weekdays and 8.30am to 11am
on Saturdays.
Shopping Hours
9am to 5pm Weekdays and 9am to 2pm on Saturdays. Large shopping
malls have extended shopping hours and vary from mall to mall. |
Security
Whilst S.A. is a friendly country, like everywhere else in the
world we need to take precautions. We advise you not to walk alone
at night and when leaving your vehicle, its is wise to lock the
car to protect your valuables that may be left inside. |
